Defamation Bill passed by the Dáil

As recently prefigured on this blog, the Government has indeed used the legislative guillotine to force through their final amendments to the Defamation Bill, 2006. According to the RTÉ news website:

Why do they have to make revisions of the country’s libel laws? How does it benefit the people today?
Passing the revision of the country’s libel laws was made for the welfare of the people. I believe that it underwent a thorough examination before its approval. Every angle, outcome and people were considered.
